The longest tunnel on the whole line was officially entered into the tunnel-Meilong Railway has made a new breakthrough

On October 26, at the construction site of the inclined shaft of the Xiahuangtian Tunnel on the Meilong Railway, the equipment roared and the voice was full. It was learned from the China Railway 25th Bureau that the Xiahuangtian Tunnel, a key control project of the Meilong Railway and the longest tunnel on the whole line, has been formally entered into the tunnel, marking a new breakthrough in project construction. The tunnel will be completed in September 2022. After opening to traffic, it only takes 1.5 hours to travel from Meizhou to Guangzhou at the fastest.

The Meilong Railway is located in the two cities of Meizhou and Heyuan. It is the first 350km/h high-speed railway project in Guangdong Province that is self-invested and constructed. It is the "Longyan-Meizhou" in the eastern region of the "High-speed Railway Regional Connection Line" planned in the "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Planning". The section of the "Longchuan" railway is also a major project closely linked to Meizhou, Heyuan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The railway has a total length of 95.6 kilometers and a construction period of 4 years. The line leads from Meizhou West Station of Meishan High-speed Railway, passing through Meixian District, Xingning City, Wuhua County and Longchuan County of Heyuan, and finally to Longchuan West of Ganshen High-speed Railway under construction station. After the completion of the project, the travel time from Meizhou to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be shortened to within 1.5 hours. This will speed up the construction of the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong area and Meizhou and Heyuan high-speed railway channels and improve the layout of the Guangdong high-speed railway network. It is of great significance to promote regional economic development.
